Product Description
The
ASUS STRIX Z270I Gaming ROG is a Mini-ITX motherboard utilising Intel's Z270 chipsetoffering compatibility with Intel's processors from the 6th ("Skylake") and 7th (Kaby Lake) generationsusing socket LGA 1151. The 200-series of chipsets, "Union Point" offer up to 24 PCIe Express 3.0 lanesand generally bring more HSIO lanes (High Speed I/O), which allows more internal connections such asSATA or PCIe slots to be used simultaneously. As a Z270 motherboard this allows the ASUS STRIXZ270I Gaming ROG are able to overclock K-series processors which offer an unlocked multiplier.
The Features of the ASUS STRIX Z270I Gaming ROG at a Glance:
- 1× PCIe (3.0) x16
- 6× USB 3.0 / 4× USB 2.0
- 2× M.2 (PCIe 3.0 x4) / 4× SATA 6G
- Supports up to 32 GB DDR4-RAM at 4.266 MHz
- Includes ac-WiFi module and antennae
- ASUS AURA RGB-LED lighting
- Expandable via RGB-LED Header (4-Pin)
- CPU overclocking via multiplier & baseclock
The ASUS STRIX Z270I Gaming ROG in Detail
The ASUS STRIX Z270I Gaming ROG is a luxuriously featured Mini-ITX motherboard with Intel's Z270chipset for Intel's CPUs from the 6000- and 7000- series. The black board offers
one PCIe x16slot which is connected to the chipset via 16 full lanes. The I/O panel provides compatibility with anarray of input devices and gaming peripherals including four USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports. Among thespecial features on the ASUS STRIX Z270I Gaming ROG are ASUS Aura RGB-LED lighting and aheader for RGB-LED strips.
The motherboard comes with two DIMM slots for DDR4 RAM in fast dual-channel mode. The memorybanks accept up to 32 GB RAM and, depending on the processor, the board supports memory clocked ateither 2.133 MHz (Skylake) or 2.300 MHz (Kaby Lake), overclocking also allows memory modules up to
4.266 MHz to be used.
In order to connect data storage to the board it comes with two M.2 slots for extra fast NVMe M.2 SSDsas well as four SATA 6G connectors for 3,5" or 2,5" hard drives and SSDs (incl RAID support). The M.2ports are connected to the chipset via four PCIe 3.0 lanes which allows, when combined with the NVMeprotocol, a data transfer rate of almost 4 GB/s. This means M.2 PCIe-SSDs are up to eight times fasterthan SATA 6G SSDs!
Apart from the Gigabit LAN port the board offers a
WiFi module, which even supports the fastac-standard. If no graphics card is available the integrated GPU of a Skylake or Kaby Lake processorallows monitors to be connected directly to the rear of the motherboard - and HDMI and DisplayPortconnectors are available for this purpose. Internally the motherboard includes, among other things, aClear CMOS header, two 4-pin headers for PWM fans, a 4-pin pump header, a ROG-EXT front panelconnector as well as XMP support and an array of overclocking features.
