The B450 chipset forms the centrepiece of the ASUS TUF B450-Plus Gaming motherboard and has been specially developed and optimised for 2000- series (Pinnacle Ridge) Ryzen CPUs. B450 motherboards support all features of 2nd gen Ryzen processors, such as the AMD's new XFR2 overclocking. Additionally, the motherboards support up to 64 GB of RAM with a guaranteed clock frequency of 2.933 MHz. Overclocking to higher frequencies is also an option, although the increase will depend on the motherboard.
The ASUS TUF B450-Plus Gaming ATX motherboard comes with one PCI-Express 3.0 slot with full x16 connectivity for graphics cards as well as a PCI-Express 2.0 x16 slot which is connected via four lanes. For additional expansion cards the motherboard offers three PCIe x1 slots. The four RAM slots support up to 64 GB DDR4-RAM clocked at a frequency of up to 2.933 MHz and this can be increased via OC to as high as 3.200 MHz.
An M.2 slot is available thanks to this being an AM4-based motherboard. The slot is equipped with four PCI-Express lanes as well as the SATA6G protocol to accept drives up to 110 mm (22110). M.2 SSDs that use the advanced NVM-Express protocol (NVMe) and that are connected via four PCI-Express 3.0 lanes are up to eight times as fast as SATA 6G hard drives and support data transfer rates of up to 32 Gbit/s.
The ASUS TUF B450-Plus Gaming includes a USB 3.0 Type C connector on the I/O panel as well as two USB 3.1 Type A connectors. The USB Type C port allows devices to be inserted in either orientation and is extremely slim. USB ports that use this standard support, as a rule, quick charging functions on smartphones and tablets. USB 3.1 Gen 2 achieves max speeds of 10 Gbit/s per port. For CPUs with integrated graphics like AMD's Raven Ridge APUs, an HDMI port and a DVI connector are available.
In terms of special features offered by the ASUS TUF B450-Plus Gaming it includes two LED lighting zones which can be controlled by means of Aura Sync Software to enable them to be synchronised with RGB components. Additionally the motherboard supports static RGB-LEDs as well.
