The keyboard, which can still be called an insider's tip in the scene, is a trademark of the Metadot Corporation and produces very high-quality and innovative mechanical keyboards under the German-English brand. The company, based in Austin, Texas, has been producing pioneering technology for the input devices, which has been optimized for daily use since 2005, and is consistently praised by the specialist press.
With the Das Prime 13, the premium manufacturer presents a reworked version of its already successful keyboards. The design is especially popular with the minimalist appearance with purists and convinces by the characteristic optics with Num-Block and high-quality aluminium cover plate. The Prime 13 has stylish white LED backlight, which can be adjusted in seven different brightness levels and has previously not been installed in any of the Das keyboards.
The laterally illuminated media keys are clearly designed and functioned in the form of micro switches with a good pressure point and a minimal stroke. The connection to the USB-Path-Through is no longer on the side of the keyboard but on the back, which makes the cable routing much easier.
The connection to the subsoil takes over the high-quality stand feet. These allow for a secure hold and an ideal 4 ° angle. When joining aluminium upper shells and plastic chassis, Metadot relies on a total of 14 connecting points. This measure and the cohesion of the PCB and chassis with nine screws have a noticeable effect on the writing sensation, reduce the volume during typing and underline the high processing quality.
The key caps of the keyboard are labelled in the "laser-engraving" procedure and are therefore particularly durable. Thanks to useful features such as 100% anti-ghosting, full-key rollover, and the fast-paced sampling rate of 1ms (1,000 samples per second), all keys are detected simultaneously via USB. Thus, the keyboard can be adapted to any requirement, whether it is in a heated battle or with complicated key sequences in the work area.
Cherry's tactile MX-Brown are used in this version, which, with their slight resistance, can logically trigger the contact release, but also allow multiple clicks in rapid succession Ideal compromise between gaming and writing. The process remains silent,so no click sound is triggered and thus office peace is not endangered.
The "Keyboard Prime 13" keyboard is the UK version, which is equipped with 105 keys in the QWERTY layout.
