For robust construction, the Ducky ProjectD Outlaw65 Barebone Keyboard is manufactured from premium quality materials. Each layer has been carefully selected to provide a better typing experience whilst still offering customisation.
The casing is aluminium that has been CNC machined, sandblasted, polished, and anodised. It goes through multiple manufacturing stages to ensure it is of exceptional quality and cuts a fine figure on your desk. The bottom plate is manufactured from carbon fibre, to lend strength and durability to the foundation.
For the baseplate, you have a choice between one made from FR-4 or POM, as both are included within the scope of delivery. FR-4 is a laminate-grade glass epoxy, a versatile thermoset plastic that has a high stiffness to weight ratio. POM stands for Polyoxymethylene, which is an engineering thermoplastic. This is lithe and low friction, yet still has excellent stability. Each offers their own unique feel, which you are free to experiment with.
The switches are mounted in either a rubber or Poron gasket. Once again, you have the choice between which you wish to install as both are included. To cushion the switches as you type is a layer of Poron rubber, providing a dampening effect to soften the click and exceptional typing feel.
The gasket mount facilitates incredible compatibility when it comes to installing switches into the Ducky ProjectD Outlaw65. Plus, with the 5-pin hot-swappable PCB, you can change out your switches to craft a fine-tuned feedback for your needs. Plus, screw-in PCB stabilisers are included to prevent any wobble.
Adding a splash of colour, south-facing RGB LEDs are integrated into the design. Your keys will be beautifully backlit by vibrant lighting.
The Ducky ProjectD Outlaw65 sports Ducky’s SF (65%) form factor. This is a TKL keyboard with no dedicated F-key row, instead layering functionality to save on space. Keys can be arranged in ANSI or ISO layouts, depending on your preference.
There are two models available. Choose between silver or black. This model is black, a classic foundation for your dream mechanical keyboard.
The Ducky ProjectD Outlaw65 Barebone Keyboard includes everything you need to engineer the perfect mechanical keyboard. This includes the inner materials, such as the gasket and bottom plate, as well as the outer aluminium casing. You assemble everything from the inner workings to the feet stands, that can set the typing angle at 5° or 7.9°.
The tools required for assembly are also included, such as a hex screwdriver, switch puller, and keycap puller. What’s more, switch lube and a brush are supplied so you can tailor every facet of the Ducky ProjectD Outlaw65 to meet your exact specifications.
The Ducky ProjectD Outlaw65 is a great way to spend an afternoon for the avid tinkerer. Once you're finished with the build, you're left with an extremely sturdy and gorgeous mech keyboard that feels like Ducky at its best. But there's no getting away from that mega price tag.
