Overclockers UK are proud to introduce Lazer3D exclusively into their range. Lazer3D are manufacturers of ultra-customisable SFF cases with extremely well thought out and thermally efficient designs with small footprints, offering the customer a level of freedom to choose their preferred design that is rarely seen in the market. The designs available allow for premium enthusiast level hardware to be installed without compromising on cooling so that you can build a tiny powerhouse system that is portable yet packs a massive punch..
All Lazer3D products are designed & manufactured in the UK as standard, meaning that not only is quality guaranteed, but customisation is available on a relatively short lead-time. If you can't see what you are looking for, please get in touch and we'll see what we can do!
The Lazer3D LZ7 DC-DC Power Supply Rear Panel + PCIe Cover are used in conjunction with an installed VGA card & motherboard, helping to fit secure the VGA card and motherboard in place correctly. It is an alternative rear panel that replaces the standard SFX power supply opening with a C14 power connector opening for mounting different DC power input connectors, the panel also adds support for a rear mounted 80mm/92mm fan instead.
Replacing the SFX power supply with a DC-DC power supply opens up the full height of the case for CPU cooling, allowing for example tower coolers up to 130mm tall to be installed. To aid cooling even further a 92mm x 25mm fan can be fitted to the rear of the case for direct CPU heat exhaust. Alternatively the rear panel is also provided with a set of pre-installed M3 Standoffs that allow you to mount a HDPLEX DC-ATX power supply to the rear panel instead of a case fan.
The Rear DC-DC panel is provided with a set of C14 adapter plates that allow you to attach a range of different types of DC power input connectors
Included C14 Adapter Plates:
- HDPLEX Standard Connector (8.5mm Hole)
- Generic 6.5mm and 9mm holes
- G-Unique Standard Connector
- Blank Plate (for modding custom connectors)
BENEFITS OF DC-DC
DC-DC power supplies are typically smaller than standard SFX power supplies and so are not limited to where they can be positioned inside a case, opening up more layout options.
The extra space created means more room can be dedicated to system cooling, higher airflow, etc.
Other benefits include completely fanless (silent) operation, less cables to manage and high power efficiency.
DRAWBACKS OF DC-DC
DC-DC power supplies usually require an external AC-DC adapter, some refer to this as the 'power brick'. This converts your mains (wall socket) voltage into either 12V or 19V DC current to power the internal DC-DC power supply. External Power bricks can be expensive for high wattage units, you also have to ensure that your DC-DC power supply is compatible in both voltage and power connector type.
HDPLEX DC-DC power supplies are compatible with the Dell 19V AC-DC adapters, their top model is 330w which is enough to safely power an Intel Core i7 65W CPU or AMD Ryzen 7 1700 combined with a GTX 1070.
