Modifying power and data cables offers a range of interesting possibilities to spruce up the aesthetics of a PC while customising it to their exact requirements. Sleeved cables can act as a means of improving the cables' durability or as a way of changing the existing cable coverings entirely. The range of colours and UV-reactive coatings can turn cables into a highlight of the case.
The MDPC-X sleeving here has been manufactured with the intention of turning a simple cable into a work of design, something that allows user to create an unmistakable visual aesthetic. MDPC-X is renowned for their intrinsically strong and balanced design, and this is what allows them to remove any hint or trace of small waves from the cable. The taught fit enables absolutely even and flowing bends - or straight lines - without the addition of supports that would distract from the overall look.
How Does Sleeving Work and What Do You Need?
The following steps take place: Firstly the cables' connectors are removed, this step requires the use of a specialised tool. If that is available the next step will be to remove the sleeve coating and shorten the cable where necessary. Having adjusted the length of the sleeve and wrapped it around the cable, short pieces of heat-shrink should subsequently be affixed over each end and the connector reattached. Heating allows the shrink wrap to seal the gap and prevent fraying of the cable sleeve.
In order to be sure of exactly how much sleeving material is required for your personal project, the rule of thumb can generally be summarised as follows: Amount of cables multiplied by the length of cable + 20%. It is particularly important to know that the sleeve length relates to its stretched state under minimal pressure. When discussing larger diameters the increasing tension that goes with such sleeves, the total length decreases. Thus when referring to the stretchiest/largest diameter sleeves are used, close to 200% sleeve lengths are required in order to adequately cover the wire.
At this point we must expressly inform you that such modifications are performed at your own risk, that they will lead to the invalidation of the guarantee on your power supply, and that we accept no liability for costs arising from said modifications.
MDPC-X Sleeve Small Provides the Perfect No-Compromises Sleeving
This product is a 1 meter medium sleeve manufactured with premium PET-X threads. In comparison to other sleeving, such as nylon based materials, PET-X is water- and stain resistant and retains its colouring under long-term UV exposure. Furthermore PET-X does not combust in so sudden a manner as do nylon-based materials. As such the sleeving can be used under even the most extreme conditions ranging from -58°C to + 155°C.
The diameter of the MDPC-X cable sleeving is highly variable, it can be stretched and compressed, thereby permitting its usage in a great variety of possible applications. The medium sleeves can therefore be stretched from ~ 5 mm to ~ 14,5 mm and offer a striking mixture between neon green and neon yellow that goes by the name of Area 51.
Delivery Notice: These products are piece goods which must first be cut according to your requirements at our dispatch centre on receipt of your order. Depending on logistical demands, goods may be dispatched in individual or at most two parts. The length of both pieces may vary, as the cut will always be made to the closest metre. The total length will naturally always correspond to the length ordered.
