PC cable modding offers a range of interesting opportunities when it comes to further enhancing the appearance of your computer and adapting it to your personal preferences. Sleeving means that the cables can either be covered with a sleeving that allows for improved protection or simply replacing the existing sleeve. Thanks to a wide range of colour variations and UV-active coatings, the cables of a PC become an attraction rather than something that needs to be concealed.
MDPC-X sleeves are specifically manufactured to transform a cable into a designer-style object, thus creating something unique in your PC. MDPC-X is well known for adding strength to the cabling, removing all small 'waves' from the cables. The tight installation allows absolutely straight and even lines - without the aid of assistive devices e.g. cable combs which would distract from the overall aesthetic.
How Does Sleeving Work and What Do I Need?
The procedure is as follows: First, the connections are separated from the cables, this requires special tools depending on the connection. If available, the sleeving is removed and the cable shortened as necessary. Now the new sleeve with its customised length can be pulled over the cable. Short pieces of heatshrink tubing are then pulled over the beginning and end of the cable and the connection is reattached. When heated, the heatshrink contracts, sealing the connections and preventing the braiding from fraying.
In order to be sure of exactly how much sleeving material is required for your personal project, the rule of thumb can generally be summarised as follows: Amount of cables multiplied by the length of cable + 20%. It is particularly important to know that the sleeve length relates to its stretched state under minimal pressure. When discussing larger diameters the increasing tension that goes with such sleeves, the total length decreases. Thus when referring to the stretchiest/largest diameter sleeves are used, close to 200% sleeve lengths are required in order to adequately cover the wire.

MDPC-X Sleeve Small Provides the Perfect No-Compromises Sleeving
This product is a 1 meter length sleeve manufactured with premium PET-X threads. In comparison to other sleeving, such as nylon based materials, PET-X is water- and stain resistant and retains its colouring under long-term UV exposure. Furthermore PET-X does not combust in so sudden a manner as do nylon-based materials. As such the sleeving can be used under even the most extreme conditions ranging from -58°C to + 155°C.
The diameter of the MDPC-X XTC cable sleeving in this variant supports diameters of up to 5 mm. The weave of the fabric is much denser than that of the small sleeves, and therefore much more opaque and less stretchy. They are also stiff enough to be used without cables as a purely decorative sleeve. On short distances they can be pulled over cables with a maximum outer diameter of up to 5.5 mm.
Delivery Notice: These products are piece goods which must first be cut according to your requirements at our dispatch centre on receipt of your order. Depending on logistical demands, goods may be dispatched in individual or at most two parts. The length of both pieces may vary, as the cut will always be made to the closest metre.
