The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti from the 10- series is, as an entry level graphics card, primarily focused on price and energy efficiency. The combination of 14 nm FinFET manufacturing, "Pascal" GPU architecture and the specifications of the GTX 1050 Ti enable operation of the reference card without any additional power connectors, while the GPU 107 GPU is capable of displaying many of the most popular online games at high details in Full HD resolutions.
The MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gaming X 4G is clocked at 1.354 MHz in "Gaming Mode", should more power be required then GPU Boost 3.0 can increase this up to 1.468 MHz via Boost Clock. The MSI Gaming App is capable of switching the MSI GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gaming X 4G into "OC" mode. The OC mode raises the Base Clock to 1.379 MHz and the Boost Clock to 1.493 MHz. The third mode available is Silent Mode. The 4 GB of VRAM is connected via a 128-Bit interface to the GPU and is clocked at 7.008 MHz (effective) in "Gaming Mode" and 7.108 MHz in "OC Mode".
In order for GPU Boost 3.0 to be fully effective, it is vital for the card's electronics to be kept as cool as possible. This is where MSI's popular Twin Frozr cooler comes into play, and not without good reason as it is both quiet and effective. The fan blades of the 10 cm Torx fans have been overhauled in the Twin Frozr VI in order to maximise the flow of fresh air through a large aluminium heatsink as well as several nickel-plated heatpipes. This design is so effective that under low load the fans can spin down completely, thus allowing the card to operate in complete silence. The black-red GTX 1050 Ti Gaming X 4G from MSI has an LED-illuminated MSI logo. The RGB-LED lighting can be adjusted via MSI's Gaming App.
Besides the 4 GB GDDR5 VRAM the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti comes with 768 CUDA cores, 48 texture- and 32 render units, which gives the GTX 1050 Ti a very impressive degree of performance, especially when taking into account the low 75 Watt TDP and the low cost. As an entry-level graphics card the GTX 1050 Ti is primarily aimed at gaming in Full HD.
At first glance the technical specifications of the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti may not seem like anything out of the ordinary, but thanks to the "Pascal" GPU architecture the GTX 1050 Ti is a deceptively powerful card for its size. The GTX 1050 Ti benefits from the optimised GPU Boost 3.0 and many other features in the Pascal architecture.
Some of the supported features include, among others, NVIDIA technologies like "Simultaneous Multi Projection" (SMP), "Dynamic Super Resolution" (DSR) as well as "Ansel". In terms of video outputs the card comes with Dual-Link DVI, HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.3/1.4. The GTX 1050 is also compatible with G-Sync monitors.
In order for the card to reach its full potential in the long-term, new drivers should be downloaded and installed from NVIDIA or the third party manufacturer at regular intervals.
