The Ironwolf ST10000VN000 is a 3.5-inch, 10 terabyte (10,000-gigabyte) hard drive designed by Seagate for long-lasting continuous use in NAS servers or home server systems.
The drive features a state-of-the-art SATA 6G interface, a 256 MB cache, and platters rotate at 7,200 rpm. The reduced speed of the HDD has a low power consumption of only 6.8 watts and can simultaneously transmit data with a sustained data throughput of brisk 210 MB / s.
The Ironwolf series NAS hard drives feature Seagate's AgileArray technology. This provides improved disk balance, RAID optimization and reduced power consumption. Advanced troubleshooting ensures that your hard drive meets NAS system requirements for better data integrity.
Reducing the vibration effects typically associated with multi-disk solutions improves reliability. This is made possible by integrated sensors for measuring rotational vibrations (RV). Optimized power profiles enable low power consumption for NAS applications with continuous operation.
The plate is also filled with heliumand hermetically sealed. Helium has only one-seventh of the density of air, so replacing air with helium in a hard disk drive significantly reduces the air turbulence caused by spinning disks. It also minimizes power consumption and temperatures, allowing Seagate to offer more discs in a traditional 3.5-inch form factor.
This design offers a 50% capacity gain while still saving up to 23% energy. So the hard drive consumes only 6.8 watts in operation and runs about four to five degrees below the temperature of standard hard drives. With 4.42 W in idle and 0.8 in standby mode, the remaining power consumption of the IronWolf HDD show relatively low.
Attention: Please note that this hard drive model with 26.1 mm is slightly higher than that of most other 3.5-inch HDDs. If necessary, measure whether the hard disk can fit into your PC, NAS or external hard drive enclosure.
