The Silverstone SST-ECU04-E is a USB 3.1 expansion card with an internal 19-pin USB 3.1 header. Installed in a second-generation PCIe x2 slot, the card achieves 10 Gbps of bandwidth. Systems with older motherboards or enclosures without USB 3.1 ports can be expanded quickly and easily with this simple retrofit solution.
The Silverstone SST-ECU04-E expansion card at a glance:
- PCIe expansion card with 19-pin USB 3.1 header
- Installation in a PCIe Gen2 x2 slot for data throughput up to 10 Gbit / s
- EXtensible Host Controller Interface (xHCI) Specification Compliance, Revision 1.1
- USB Attached SCSI Protocol (UASP) compliance, revision 1.0
- Low profile slot cover included to support low profile enclosures
The Silverstone SST-ECU04-E expansion card in detail
Silverstone is the ideal solution for bringing one system to two fast USB 3.1 Type A ports . The expansion card can be used in any system with a free PCIe x2 port, but of course it also works in all PCIe x4, x8 and x16 slots. The card has an internal 19-pin USB 3.1 header. This allows you to connect two particularly high-bandwidth USB 3.1 Type-A ports .
USB 3.1 ports are available with maximum speeds of 10 Gbpstwice as fast as conventional USB 3.0 ports. Thanks to the use of the PCI Express interface, these very high data rates are no problem for the card and can be fully exploited. Of course, the new standard is fully backwards compatible with existing devices. With the next-generation standard, users are well prepared for the high speeds of upcoming USB 3.1 devices.
An internal 15-pin SATA supply connector powers the small card. It also supports USB Attached SCSI Protocol (UASP) for increased performance. The SST-ECU04-E can also be used in operating systems with XHCI (eXtensible Host Controller Interface)without driver, as it also supports XHCI.
