The AMD Ryzen 7000 CPU Guard from Thermal Grizzly is a foam gasket that fills the cutouts on the IHS during assembly of the CPU cooler to protect the electronic components on the CPU package from thermal conduction agents.
The heat spreaders of the Ryzen 7000 processors have cutouts on the edges. Electronic components on the CPU package are located in these recesses. In addition, the IHS does not close with the PCB of the package in these areas. This can lead to contamination and damage to the CPU .
Here comes the AMD Ryzen 7000 CPU Guardin the game. The foam gasket fills the recesses of the heatspreader to cover the exposed areas. This protects the electronic components , for example from thermal paste and liquid metal.
