This Powerful CPU cooler made by Alpenföhn is an asymmetric cooling tower with five nickel-plated 6 mm heat pipes, Wing Boost 3 fan with PWM connector and a high compatibility for CPU sockets & RAM
What's the result of crossing and uniting two "Brocken" generations, well it means the Brocken 3 will furthermore enhance the performance levels. The CPU cooler features a large heat sink with aerodynamically optimised fins along with brushed as well as anodised top fins whose fin distance predestines the cooler for silent operation. In combination with the five 6 mm heat pipes and the included 140 mm PWM fan from the Wing Boost 3 series, gargantuan cooling power can be achieved. The RockMount mounting system allows for an easy and uncomplicated installation of the cooler.
The Alpenfohn Brocken 3's list of features :
- Tower cooler with up to 220W TDP cooling power
- Five 6 mm heat pipes & optimised fins
- Wing Boost 3 fan with PWM connector and 140 mm format
- Asymmetrical design of the tower for best RAM compatibility
- High-performance thermal paste "Permafrost" included
- High compatibility to AMD and Intel CPU sockets
- RockMount mounting system for easy installation
Capable Alpenfohn Brocken CPU Cooler of the third Generation
The third generation of the famed and esteemed Brocken cooler made by Alpenföhn resembles its predecessors when it comes to looks alone, but due to several innovations and an even further enhanced cooling performance the Brocken 3 can pull ahead of its rivals. All the know-how and experience stemming from the very popular Brocken 1 & 2 models as well as volumes of customer feedback from the Alpenföhn online community have been incorporated into the construction of the Brocken 3.
A striking difference to its direct predecessor becomes apparent in the fact that twin towers became one single tower again, whose aerodynamically optimised fins with adjusted fin distance offer tremendously improved capabilities for silent operation. Especially in combination with the new Wing Boost 3 140 mm fan, that possesses a fixed integrated fan guide wheel for axially directed airflow, noise levels could be reduced and a minimisation of airflow twist could be realised. The result is a formidable performance increase of the fan that enabled a reduction of its maximum rotational speed in comparison to alternate layouts.
Wing Boost 3 fan with PWM connector
The Wing Boost 3 fan intrigues primarily due to its special blade pitch intended for slow rotational speed, which is why it delivers a significantly higher flow rate, higher static pressure and a higher exit velocity in comparison to other fans at identical speed levels. Apart from that, the aerodynamically optimised blade geometry benefits the axially directed airflow and the fanning out of the exhaust air. This way, the heat sink can use a larger surface area for heat dissipation.
Naturally the 140 mm fan can be plugged directly into the motherboard via a PWM connector and rotates depending on the CPU temperature at between 400 and 1050 revolutions per minute. Equipped with a durable fluid dynamic bearing, the fan's noise level doesn't exceed quiet 19 dB even at full speed while being able to generate an airflow of up to 103 m³/h. So a strong mountain breeze is definitely being provided here atop the Brocken!
Also on board again is the gapless H.D.C. technology (Heatpipe Direct Contact) featuring five nickel-plated 6 mm heat pipes neatly integrated directly into the copper base plate, which warrants improved heat transmission. Furthermore, the Brocken 3 too employs an asymmetrical cooling tower design with long heat pipes that provide a lot of space between base plate and the heat sink, the latter also being slightly shifted towards the back and not centred above the socket.
Thanks to this design, not a single RAM slot is being obstructed by the cooler on most motherboards on the market, not even when the fan is installed on the front side in a pushing configuration as it is most commonly done. Nothing stands in your way when you plan on using all RAM slots on your board. The latter can sport a PGA socket AM4, AM3(+), AM2(+), FM2(+) and FM1 on AMD's side or an LGA socket 775, 1366, 115x and 2011(-V3) on Intel's side of the market. The RockMount mounting system facilitates the uncomplicated installation of the cooler once more.
