Even the best can always be better, that's what the engineers at Alpenföhn did by redesigning the Brocken ECO from the ground up. The result: more efficiency and even simpler installation. This is how the Alpenföhn Brocken ECO Advanced achieves support for a TDP of 170 Watts and is perfect for overclockers. The ultra-quiet 120mm WingBoost 3 fan is the fan of choice. Like its predecessor, the Alpenföhn Brocken ECO Advanced also manages excellent price-to-performance.
The Alpenföhn Brocken ECO Advanced is more than an upgrade to the popular Brocken ECO, which itself drew an extensive following on the basis of its excellent price-to-performance. Due to the slightly larger cooler and a high-performance fan, Alpenföhn has been able to increase the efficiency of the Brocken ECO Advanced to a TDP of 170 Watts. Moreover, the compact dimensions of the Brocken ECO Advanced do not just make it cheaper, it makes it a great choice for many cases that lack room for a large tower cooler. The 120mm- format fan also helps makes the ECO Advanced protrude a mere 14.9 cm into the case.
A total of four heat pipes make contact between the baseplate and the aluminium fins. The heat pipes and the copper baseplate, which is nickel-plated for aesthetic reasons. Naturally, this has had no effect on the cooling performance is unaffected, as the excellent TDP demonstrates.
The 6mm heat pipes are embedded directly into the baseplate between the processor and cooler using Alpenföhn's Gapless H.D.T technology. The discerning out there will immediately notice that they've got a Brocken in front of them due to its dual-fin tower design and the arrangement of the fins that has changed to, predominantly, groups of three to result in a large heat dissipation area along with excellent airflow characteristics that allow the fan to operate at the lowest speeds possible.
The Alpenföhn Brocken ECO Advanced also features the ingenious innovation of being able to easily move the double tower in one direction. With this asymmetrical design, the four heatpipes rise so high that the heat sink is not exactly centred above the end plate, but rather slightly offset to the rear. This means that the majority of motherboards on the market won't have a single RAM slot blocked by the cooler.
Alpenföhn includes an ultra-modern WingBoost 3-series fan which, thanks to the new angle of attack of the fan blades, offers a significantly higher volume flow, total pressure and exhaust speed all at the same time. The static pressure is significantly increased by a fixed integrated guide wheel in the fan frame, and this also contributes to a reduction in the turbulence in the air flowing away from it. The result is a further optimisation of the radial flow and a reduction in noise. There is also a PWM connection including a Y-splitter. Up to three additional PWM fans can be connected to a single slot on the motherboard.
The Alpenföhn Brocken ECO is compatible with all current motherboard sockets from AMD (AM2/AM2+, AM3/AM3+, AM4, FM1/FM2/FM2+) and Intel (775, 1150/1151/1155/1156, 1366, 2011, 2011-V3, 2066) and thanks to the "RockMount 2"-system is easy and straightforward to install.

I bought this cooler to replace the AMD Wraith cooler which came with my CPU. I had previously tried a cooler master hyper 212 but the ram slots are close to the cpu socket on my MSI motherboard and as such a ram slot was blocked. This tower provides plenty of clearance to the ram slots and dropped the temperature by 10c over the stock cooler. With an aggressive fan profile I've over clocked my cpu from 4.2 up to 4.7 ghz.Lastly the cooler looks very good in the case.Excellent
