Buyer beware - a high spec motherboard, with problems.
by AlAs a long term Gigabyte user I chose this motherboard as it offered features I couldn't obtain with Gigabyte. In hindsight I needn't have bothered. The first motherboard went back straight away, after arriving with a damaged capacitor. The second lasted around two months before I had had enough of it. In that time it took ages to boot. It had plenty of time and restarts to get the memory trained (64Gb 6000MHz DDR5 on Asus supported list and confirmed compatible by Overclockers before purchase). Tried all the obvious; turned off both memory context restore options, enabled fast boot, and so forth. It unreliably ran Win 11 Pro. Randomly, it would BSOD 2 or 3 times within the first 1/2 hour of use, then would be stable for hours. At other times it would startup and run without issue. It would not run stably using EXPO settings (all options tried), had to go back to stock SPD values of 4800. Sometimes access to BIOS was impossible, only powering off and restarting seemed to help. Used with the latest BIOS (2007) and drivers (as of early July 2024). Audio was awful (5.1 setup), very predicable, large deafening pops when audio events started/finished. I don't have an spdif setup so can't comment on that. However this was the final reason for this board to be returned (as advised by Asus technical support). Whilst waiting for Asus tech support to get back to me I tried Win 10 Pro to see if this was any better, it wasn't, neither was Ubuntu 24.04. Maybe I was unlucky to get two duds in a row, but I'm of the impression all is not right with this board. I've gone back to Gigabyte (X670E Aorus Master), I've had to forsake USB4 but it has run faultlessly, boots quickly, overclocks easily and has not BSOD once. I added a soundcard to get 5.1 audio. Hard to decide how many stars to award. Overclockers support has been second to none, particularly Patrick C and for that alone I would award 5 stars, but this a review of the motherboard not Overclockers so I can only award one star.
