As the foundation to your gaming PC, the Asus ROG Strix Z490-E Gaming ATX Motherboard offers comprehensive support for all your high-end components and gaming demands. Thanks to the Z490 chipset, this motherboard is compatible with the 10th generation of Intel Core processors.
The processor circuitry on the Asus ROG Strix Z490-E Gaming is supplied with ample power using Digi+VRM. This provides ultra-smooth power flow to the CPU and a real-time control interface to regulate voltage for increased stability. It has 14+2 power stages which combine high- and low-side MOFSETs for optimum efficiency with power distribution, modulated through chokes made of a superior alloy to resist extreme temperatures. This design facilitates exemplary performance from the power distribution system, to keep up with the demands of your chosen CPU.
Get the best gaming experiences, the Asus ROG Strix Z490-E Gaming can support multi-GPU technology. Spread the task of rendering high-quality graphics using either Nvidia’s 2-Way SLI or AMD’s 3-Way CrossFireX technologies, for a quicker and smoother run of your favourite games.
With four DIMM memory slots, the Asus ROG Strix Z490-E Gaming has capacity up to 128GB of DDR4 RAM, with clock speeds up to 4600MHz. Utilising OptiMem 2 software, memory compatibility and stability is enhanced for higher frequency margins. Additionally, system resources can be maximised and memory health be monitored using RAMCache 3 software.
Providing you with a flexible and fast storage solution, the Asus ROG Strix Z490-E Gaming ATX Motherboard features 2 x M.2 and 6 x SATA ports. You will experience blisteringly fast transfer speeds on your HDDs and SSDs with this motherboard. One of the M.2 ports is equipped with both SATA and PCIe 3.0 modes, further expanding your options when it comes to creating ample storage for your gaming PC.
With dedicated headers for both air or liquid cooling, the Asus ROG Strix Z490-E Gaming ATX Motherboard has comprehensive cooling support and an integrated thermal solution. The armoured PSU is in secure contact with the ProCool 2 Socket, so heat can be effectively and efficiently dissipated. This is further bolstered by the MOS heatsink being paired with an innovative U Shaped heat pipe. The thermal regulation capacities are additionally aided by integrated thermal pads and a bundled fan bracket, complete with extra MOS fan.
The Asus ROG Strix Z490-E Gaming comes with a package of AI software, for cooling, overclocking, and networking. Accessible via an easy-to-use dashboard called AI Suite 3, these pieces of software allow you to configure the system to suit your exact specification and gaming needs. Customise the system bias for performance, cooling, stability, and efficiency, either manually or with one-click pre-sets.
Further system configuration can be controlled using the simple one-click 5-Way Optimisation software. Additionally, the Asus ROG Strix Z490-E Gaming has the Republic of Gamers programme Armoury Crate. This utility software is a one-stop-shop for your drivers, with access to Aura Sync, account settings, and a newsfeed for all the latest Republic of Gamers community updates and news.
This software automatically manages, detects, and controls the attached fans to their optimal setting, determined by the current temperature and system work load. Using Fan Xpert 4, every header can automatically detect whether fans are PWM or DC and then be monitored manually or use self-adaptive tuning. Your PC will be kept operating at its optimum temperature with reduced risk of hardware damage from heat.
Utilising an intelligent algorithm, this software profiles the CPU and cooling hardware. Data is gathered and listed according to core group when paired with a high-core CPU. It is then used to predict optimum voltage and frequency settings. A detailed guide is provided, ensuring the perfect settings are achieved. Designed by experts, it allows for real-time adjustments that are enhanced by the AI Overclocking’s predictive capabilities, for a smoother overclock.
Designed to optimise online play, this uses GameFirst VI software to streamline online gaming with a faster and smarter network. This is achieved by analysing usage patterns and digital signals then comparing results to a database of 200,000 apps. Gaming applications are prioritised and settings are adjusted for prime gameplay, even when streaming. A network overview is available to monitor in a real-time graph, showing bandwidth usage for each application and a WiFi channel analysis. Additionally, when using Ethernet, the 2.5Gb port boosts connection up to 2.5x more than the industry standard making gaming lag-free, providing higher resolution video streaming, and increasing file transfer speeds.
With a range of safety features, the Asus ROG Strix Z490-E Gaming ATX Motherboard makes an ideal foundation to any level of enthusiast. Whether this is your first build or your 100th build, the process will be fuss free thanks to the extensive QVL of compatible components compiled.
Supplying connection to external devices, the I/O Shield comes pre-mounted with an array of USB and audio ports. What’s more, there are easy access Q-codes which are perfect for diagnosing any errors it flags up with your components or motherboard, leading to a swift resolution.

Solid motherboard! Great aura lighting great design, issues with intel ethernet driver. But sorted it by using older driver.
generally a really feature rich board for the home and gaming.I'm hoping the lga 1200 has a decent upgrade path. Was waiting for a new socket Overclocks my 10600k automatically to 5 ghz with an aio water cooler. So many bios settings im sure I'll never use. Was a bit finikey with my m2 hdd kept loosing it on boot. I groped arround in the bios and gave it an update and seams reliable now. Manual could be a bit more explicit on a few issues but honestly I've not built a system for several years so could just be me being obtuse. Auto installs drivers when windows boots for the first time but this glitches out for me so downloaded manually from asus. And don't ask about the cd the bord comes with... apparently you can't just assume your new case will come with a 5.25 inch bay slot now days... oopsAll around asus magic
