Fantastic monitor
by 13oots2Was off to a bad start with a patch of grey top right of screen that would randomly appear when switching between SDR and HDR. Turning the monitor off and back on would solve this for a while, and then random crashes of the computer would happen during video playback. Dug out a USB B and attempted a firmware upgrade that failed first time causing another small panic, but second try worked, and grey patch has gone. Then spent half a day trying to get anything more than an awful washed out video image, this time it was my mistake, I eventually found that Nvidia advanced settings were set to limited colour output, upon switching to full everything changed. Having never experienced FALD, HDR looks very good to me, a little light leakage in the black boarders but not too distracting and the image quality is very good, with nice vibrant colours. SDR is very good too for both video and general computing tasks, 4K is a huge upgrade from 1440p, it took me a day or so to get used to a flat screen again. Colours didn't seem as punchy as previous Asus, but after calibration look a lot more natural and accurate. It is a fantastic monitor and at the B-Grade price really good value and performance, there appears to be more than a little HDR snobbery around monitors. Is it perfect, no but to my eyes a very solid performer.
