Exceptional keyboard for Linux gamers
by $RKGn0yvaaA*Dj0q^#After needing a replacement for a venerable Corsair Strafe Mk2 I saw this keyboard on offer and seeing that it was the only Ducky keyboard where you could do all the LED and macro programming on the keyboard itself, lept at the chance. The default keycaps are very nice and tough but it's a south-lit keyboard with opaque keycaps which seems a waste after coming from backlit-legend keycaps. The keyboard programs well and after discussing with the Ducky support team several issues with the manual (not sure if I can stick a link to the manual addenda I recorded) I eventually got this thing working. With the speed silvers over the traditional silent reds I've probably overstepped in that the actuation height is extremely high which takes getting used to for typing, but is rewarding in games as I like to be very dainty. The polling rates of 1000/2000/4000/8000 are very nice but I've found that sometimes very high polling us unnecessary and results in CPU load so I'm mostly floating around 2k/4k for the lols, leaving it on the default 1000 is fine. Because nobody does side-lit keycaps in UK ISO and there is only one set of low-legend backlit keycaps in UK ISO that's not Cherry or OEM profile, I opted for the Glorious full translucent keycaps with printed legend which are working very nicely right now as I type in a darkened room. One thing that helped is putting the keyboard into display mode which allows access to LED modes but doesn't register keypresses, for when you're changing shine-through keycaps so you can see that everything is working well. The included Ducky parephenalia is wonderful, I've never had a keyboard that's the full package of weighty, thocky, decent keycaps, and a lovely legend. Once the manual is fixed, I'd say that particularly when on sale this is something gamers should seriously consider to add to their arsenal.
