Great upgrade...at least for now!
by Robert HudsonHaving recently bought a new TV with 120Hz refresh rate, Variable Refresh Rate, HDR, and all the bells and whistles you can think of, i decided to upgrade my Nvidia GeForce 1070 GTX to this beast and it has made such a big difference! I was actually looking for a 3070 Ti or 3080 at the time, but then this came out and its just as fast if not faster, has better features, got more onboard memory, uses a whole lot less power to do all that, and its all for roughly the same price as i was going to spend anyway! Just in case you are wondering, it does come with the new 12+4pin connector and adaptor which wasn't clear when i bought it but i also bought a new PSU so it wasn't an issue for me. The only thing that concerns me a little is the 12GB onboard memory, instead of something like 16GB as some of the newer games seem to want this now and especially at 4k resolutions. This card can run older games at 4k perfectly well, but it will struggle at 4k on newer games without using DLSS and/or frame generation enabled if the game supports it. For the moment i think that this is the best mid range graphics card to go for if you fancy an upgrade, but only if you are upgrading from a few generations back like i was. Upgrading from a mid ranged 30 series card might not be worth it really.
