GMMK 3 Barebones

The Glorious GMMK 3 Series offers incredible freedom to customise this mechanical keyboard to meet your performance needs, aesthetics, and experience. The Glorious GMMK 3 Barebones Keyboard provides a foundation of premium build materials and easy configuration, paired with extensive switch and keycap compatibility. Supporting both 3-pin and 5-pin switches, you can hot-swap in the switches of your choice and complete the keyboard with keycaps to match your style.

The Glorious GMMK 3 Barebones is available in 100% or 75% form factors. This is the TKL (75%) model, with a UK ISO layout. The keyboard frame is a stylish black, with a colour matched Glorious badge, while the underside is the iconic “Glorange”.

Innovative Layers

To deliver responsive typing, every layer and component of the Glorious GMMK 3 Barebones has been carefully curated. The outer casing is manufactured from an ABS polymer, providing a durable and firm foundation for this highly customisable keyboard. As standard, the switch plate is aluminium, for a precise and tactile feel that is firm yet flexible. However, you can swap in brass, TR4, or polycarbonate plate (each sold separately) to adjust the feel of your typing. Beneath the switch plate is a dual-layer sound dampening foam. This cushions each keystroke and absorbs unwanted sounds, to create satisfying acoustics.

A key feature of the Glorious GMMK 3 Barebones is the Modular Gasket System (MGS). Rather than a fixed gasket position, the MGS allows you to add or remove the silicone gasket modules that support the PCB assembly. Thanks to a peg and rail system, these pieces are easy to take out or put back in, as you please. Removing the modules will give the plate more mobility and flex, to give a softer typing feel which is great for longer typing sessions. Keeping the modules in place will keep the plate firm, better for quick-paced gaming. What’s more, at launch there will be two types of MGS modules, in firm or flexible, to further control your typing experience.

Glorious Core

The Gloroius GMMK 3 Barebones can be customised beyond its build, materials, and switches. Utilising Glorious Core software, you can configure the three-zone RGB lighting and key function. This includes the programmable rotary knob, situated in the top right corner, which can be assigned multiple functions, from volume control to custom actions.

GMMK 3 Box Contents

The Glorious GMMK 3 Barebones comes with a range of accessories to get you started on your perfect keyboard build. This includes providing the tools you’ll need, like a switch puller, keycap puller, and screwdriver. A detachable USB-C braided cable comes in the box, delivering a stable connection with a 1,000Hz polling rate. What’s more, there are three sample switches to experiment with feedback and typing feel before you buy a complete set. Finally, there is a quick start booklet containing all the necessary information about the Glorious GMMK 3 Barebones.

Functional, compact and looks great. But the Glorious' software suuuuucks.

The board itself was super easy to put switches into. The LED's are pleasant and can be entirely managed on the keyboard itself through key combinations (which is the main savour of the board as I will mention.) The software Glorious has on their website just plain doesn't work (at least in my case.) The LEDs won't change to what I apply to them in the software, I was at this for a few hours and came to realise it was no fault of mine. If the software worked (and maybe allowed for a little more customisation) this would be an easy 5 stars. All the tools you should need come with the board, including cap pullers, switch pullers and a screwdriver for getting at other bits you might want to change.
