Quiet, low-fuss take on the 4090
by RogueywonI purchased the Inno3D X3 on launch-day and have given it plenty of use since then. I've given a five star review because I had to put something for a score, but thought it'd be more useful to give a bit of detail. First thing to note... it's a 4090 (obviously). That means it's expensive, powerful, large and power-hungry. That's true for all of the 4090s, albeit with some minor bits of nuance. The Inno3D card specifically is a fairly basic variant. If you're after a lot of overclocking headroom, this is probably not the model to go for. The power adapter only accommodates three 8-pin cables, rather than four as seen on many other models. What the card does do is provide 4090-level performance with very little fuss. The cooler isn't as big as on some of the other variants, so this will fit comfortably in three slots, rather than four. It's very quiet. Obviously, noise performance can vary even within the same model of the same card, but this is the quietest GPU I've owned for a good few years, probably since my old 980. Despite that, temperatures also stay very civilised. One thing to note is that while the Inno3D website states an 850W PSU as the minimum, the box description asks for 1000W. I ran this for the first few days from an 850W PSU, but switched to a 1000W as quickly as I could. I had no issues on the older power supply, but felt more comfortable after an upgrade. Also, Inno3D's software suite is as minimalist as it comes, so don't expect a whole range of tuning options. In short, if you're after a 4090 with a lot of overclocking headroom, the Inno3D X3 probably isn't the model for you. If you want a low-fuss 4090 with excellent noise performance, then it's definitely worth a look.
