Good card
by EdwardGood card, I bought it when it was being sold for 209. Would buy more but.. the steep price increase seems a bit stupid to me. I'd still recommend this card.
he MSI Radeon RX 580 Armor 8G OC with semi-passive Armor cooler achieves a boost clock of up to 1,366 MHz. The 8GB GDDR5 video memory clocks at 4,000 MHz (effectively 8,000 MHz) and are connected to the GPU (graphics chip) with a 256-bit memory interface. An 8-pin power connector supplies power to the 26.9 cm long graphics card, and a power supply of 500 watts is recommended for operation.
With the ARMOR radiator design from MSI, the copper heatspipes are incorporated directly into the baseplate. The heat dissipated on aluminum fins is swirled by two axial fans. If the graphics chip is not fully charged and requires less cooling, the fans are either shut down or completely switched off.
The Polaris graphics chips of the Radeon RX-500 series are manufactured use the optimized 14-nm FinFET-LPP process, which has increased the performance compared to the RX-400 series. The number of shader units of the Radeon RX 580 remains unchanged at 2,304 compared to the Radeon RX 480. However, the Radeon RX 580 offers nearly 10 percent more computing power than the direct predecessor. The reason for this increase in performance are the increased clock rates in the boost, which are possible through process optimization.
Among the various innovative features of the Polaris architecture are a new command processor, a geometry processor, reworked multimedia cores, an optimized display engine and an improved memory controller. Other supported technologies include Async Compute, Vulkan, DirectX 12 and AMD's FreeSync technology .
The Radeon RX-500 series employs the same control, power and clock rate technologies as the 400 series, and the Radeon RX 580 has a low TDP of only 150 watts. Monitors can be connected to the graphics card via display port, HDMI or DVI-D, and EyeFinity technology allows up to four screens to be connected in a multi-display setup. The HDMI connector in standard 2. 0b transmits 4K / UHD resolution at 60 hertz and has HDCP 2.2 for sending and receiving encrypted signals (4K-streaming, 4K-Blu-Rays).
CLASSY BLACK & WHITE DESIGN
Game in style & dare to be different with MSI’s unique ARMOR graphics cards. Inspired by advanced armor shielding with a classy black & white finish. ARMOR graphics cards are perfect for gamers and case modders who are looking for something different. This is where gaming meets class.
DUAL FAN
ARMOR 2X thermal design is equipped with two of the award winning MSI TORX fans. Thanks to the patented blade design, MSI TORX fans provide strong cooling performance while remaining incredibly silent.
ZERO FROZR - STAY UNDETECTED
First introduced in 2008 by MSI, ZeroFrozr technology has made its mark and is now the industry standard among graphics cards. It eliminates fan noise by stopping the fans in low-load situations. This means you can focus on gaming without the noise of spinning fans.
HEATSINK & AIRFLOW CONTROL
Under the classy shroud and powerful dual fans is a huge heatsink with countless aluminum fins that help dissipate the heat from the GPU. The copper heatpipes are infused in the baseplate to ensure efficient cooling. The aluminum fins are rigged with Airflow Control technology to maximize airflow towards the heatpipes.
