DDR4 2400 MHz Memory

Here at Overclockers we stock a range of DDR4 2400 MHz memory from leading memory manufacturers including Corsair, Kingston and Crucial. Coming in single, dual or quad channel kits we can cater to your every requirement. The benefit of high-frequency RAM is its blisteringly fast performance. The higher the speed, the faster the RAM can process operations and transfer the data, making DDR4 2400 Mhz memory particularly fast and perfectly suited to the high-end application and gaming.

What is RAM and how is it utilised?

RAM (Random Access Memory) is a core component of any PC system. It slots into your motherboard and functions as the short term memory of your computer—it temporarily stores data as you use applications, allowing your system to quickly access the resources it needs. This also enables more successful multi-tasking; think of RAM like desk space, where the more space you have, the more files and work materials you can access at once. At Overclockers UK, we offer you the very latest in this technology, DDR4 RAM, to allow you to optimise the performance of your PC. Here you will find the fastest memory on the market at fair prices, from trusted brands such as Corsair, Kingston, and Crucial.

What is DDR4 RAM?

DDR4 memory was introduced to the consumer market in 2014 and is the latest generation of DDR (Double Data Rate) memory technology; which means two data transfers occur per clock cycle. It is the next step up from DDR3, released in 2007, and the now virtually obsolete DDR2 and original DDR versions. Although capacity is still king when it comes to RAM—the more gigabytes you have, the quicker your system will run—DDR4 runs at higher speeds than the previous generations. Whilst DDR 4 RAM is precisely the same type of component as DDR3 and DDR2, it is not backwards compatible, so you will need to make sure your motherboard is compatible before you buy DDR 4 memory.

The Difference between DDR3 and DDR4 RAM

One way DDR4 memory improves on the performance of DDR3 is its greater range of clock speeds; that is, the speed at which it can read and write data. DDR3 normally clocks at 1333Mhz, 1600Mhz, 1866Mhz, or 2133Mhz, which is the upper limit. DDR4 RAM, on the other hand, can far exceed those clock speeds, even beyond 4000Mhz. A related benefit to this is an improvement in latency (the delay between a command and its execution); generally, the latency time improves with each increase in clock speed. As a result, if you buy DDR4 RAM in an 8GB stick, it will perform quicker than 8GB of DDR3. Furthermore, DDR4 memory tends to run at lower voltages than previous generations, 1.2 volts as opposed to 1.5, making it much more power efficient and stable in the long term. This added stability also assists you in overclocking your RAM, so you can achieve even more impressive clock speeds. Although DDR4 RAM is more expensive, so long as you have a compatible motherboard and CPU, its speed and efficiency gains will keep your system running optimally.

Why Do I Need DDR4 Memory?

Computing programs and applications, including games, advance at a rapid rate, demanding extra resources in order to run more complex or power-hungry processes. Components have to keep pace with these developments so that users can experience these programs in the best way possible. DDR4 RAM is a great example of this, as it is designed to provide the firepower to support the very latest games as well as photo and video editing at the current highest resolutions. If you want to stay ahead of the curve, upgrading to DDR4 RAM is a great way to go, and is among the more budget friendly ways to increase your computer power. What’s more, by doing so you’ll ensure your system is as future-proofed as possible.
