Have it for 2 years now bought from new egg, its bang for the buck, yes its silent because it has one platter only, thats why read/write head noise is very silent, also its fast, windows 8 boot up to dektop time - 8-12ms similar to an cheaper ssd's.Really worth buying.

I have two of these 1TB WD hard drives, and another which is 500GB. I've had no problems with any of them whatsoever. All are fast and reliable. Highly recommended.
