48GB RAM

Team Group 8Pack RIPPED Edition DDR4 RAM

Unlock the full potential of your computer with Overclockers UK range of 48GB RAM kits, from manufacturers including Team Group, Corsair, Kingston, and Crucial. These memory solutions are available in both DDR4 and DDR5 models, featuring a range of speeds and latencies. A 48GB RAM kit is perfect for workstation PCs, providing plenty of resources for CPU-intensive workloads. Thanks to this, more computations can be processed simultaneously, leading to improved performance. This is especially useful for 3D modelling, video editing, or simulations. A 48GB RAM kit is also a fantastic choice for gamers, as AAA titles are becoming more complex and require more resources. Thus, you’ll be covered for the demands of any future gaming releases. Furthermore, this RAM is both fast and reliable, as it is manufactured from premium quality components.

DDR4 vs DDR5

DDR4 and DDR5 are both forms of Random Access Memory (RAM) and are each a different generation of Synchronous Dynamic RAM (SDRAM). They function as a type of memory that the CPU can store data on. Unlike an SSD, the RAM modules are volatile, meaning anything stored on them is lost without power.

There are multiple factors that differentiate DDR5 from DDR4, some of these are:

  • Data transfer rate - DDR5 features higher transfer rates compared to DDR4. Many DDR4 RAM kits offer around 3000MHz transfer speeds, whilst DDR5 starts out at around 4800MHz.
  • CAS Latency - This is the delay between a RAM module receiving a request to release data, and the number of cycles it takes to release that information. A consequence of higher transfer rates is that CAS latency increases, thus DDR4 generally has lower CAS latencies than DDR5.
  • Power - As SDRAM technologies mature, their power consumption generally decreases. DDR4 operates around 1.2V, meanwhile DDR5 uses 1.1V. This means a computer equipped with DDR5 will be more energy efficient than a similar computer equipped with DDR4.
  • ECC - Sometimes data can contain errors, which must be corrected before it can be fully utilised. DDR5 memory can do this on-die, meaning any data sent back to the CPU is correct and ready for use. Not all DDR4 memory features this, requiring the CPU to spend cycles correcting these mistakes itself.
